The Project
The project was to build an app for a 85″ touchscreen TV.
The TV, located in the lobby on the 44th Floor of a new Northern Trust building in downtown Chicago, allows customers to walk up to and interact with it.
When interacting with the app, customers can see important events and announcements, learn more about Northern Trust’s services/employees, or explore what’s around them using an interactive map.
The Requirements
Including being fully compatible with a touchscreen TV, the requirements for this project were straight forward:
- Admins have access to control all content displayed on the app.
- Ability to add/manage events with supporting assets such as videos, presentations, images, etc.
- Dynamic map that displays the best options in the vicinity for points of interest such as dinning, attractions, hotels and more.
- Full on-going support, hosting and maintenance.
The Solution
A touchscreen app built with React Native and all the control the client needs over content using WordPress.
We configured two separate servers. One that hosts WordPress as an independent backend, and one that hosts the touchscreen app. The two servers communicate to each other via the WordPress REST API.
